Description
Ok, Mr Field by Katharine Kilalea is a thought-provoking novel about a pianist who suffers an accident that forces him to abandon his career. He and his wife relocate to South Africa, where they settle into a house designed by a local architect inspired by Le Corbusier. As the couple settles into their new life, strange events unfold. Mr Field's wife suddenly leaves him, prompting a response of curious lassitude from the pianist. However, it is in this house that the most significant changes occur, as its design seems to mirror his own feelings of longing and disconnection. The house's influence on Mr Field is profound, conjuring up memories of its previous occupant, Hannah Kallenbach. As he becomes increasingly obsessed with her presence, the boundaries between past and present begin to blur, leading to a complex exploration of desire, loss, and identity.
