2. Use of Our Website
You agree to use our website only for lawful purposes.
You must not misuse our website by attempting to interfere with its normal operation, introducing viruses or harmful material, attempting unauthorised access, or using the website in a way that may damage, disable or impair the service.
We may update, change or remove parts of the website at any time.
3. Product Information
We aim to ensure that product information, titles, descriptions, prices, availability and images are accurate and up to date.
However, errors can occasionally occur. Product images are for guidance only and may vary slightly from the item supplied, especially where publishers change cover artwork, editions or packaging.
Where important product information is missing or unclear, please contact us before ordering.
4. Prices
All prices are shown in pounds sterling.
Prices may change at any time, but this will not affect orders that have already been accepted.
If a product is listed at an incorrect price due to an error, we reserve the right to cancel the order and issue a full refund.
5. Placing an Order
When you place an order, you are making an offer to buy the item or items in your basket.
After placing an order, you should receive an order confirmation by email. This confirms that we have received your order, but it does not guarantee that the order has been accepted or dispatched.
An order is accepted when we dispatch the item or otherwise confirm that the item is available and being processed.
We reserve the right to cancel an order if:
- the item is unavailable;
- there is a pricing or listing error;
- payment is declined or reversed;
- we suspect fraudulent or unauthorised activity;
- the delivery address is incomplete or invalid;
- we are unable to fulfil the order for reasons outside our control.
If we cancel an order after payment has been made, we will issue a refund to the original payment method.
6. Payment
Payment must be made at checkout using one of the payment methods available on our website.
We currently accept payment through the payment providers shown at checkout, which may include PayPal and other available payment options.
We do not store full card payment details on our website. Payments are processed securely by the relevant payment provider.
7. Availability
We aim to keep stock and availability information accurate. However, because we sell a large range of books, availability can occasionally change before an order is processed.
If an item becomes unavailable after you place an order, we will contact you where possible and may offer a replacement, an alternative option, or a refund.
8. Handling Time and Delivery
Handling time is shown within the product or item description where applicable. Handling time is the time required to prepare, source, pick, pack and dispatch your order.
Courier delivery time should be added after the handling time.
Delivery times are estimates only and may vary depending on the item ordered, courier service, delivery location, weekends, bank holidays, seasonal demand, severe weather, postal disruption or other delays outside our control.
We use a range of recognised couriers and postal services depending on the type, size, weight and destination of the parcel.
Further delivery information is available on our Shipping & Returns page.
9. Delivery Address
It is your responsibility to provide a complete and accurate delivery address at checkout.
We cannot be responsible for delays, failed deliveries or lost parcels caused by incorrect or incomplete address details supplied by the customer.
If you notice a mistake in your address, please contact us as soon as possible. We will do our best to help, but we cannot guarantee changes can be made once an order is being processed or has been dispatched.
10. Multiple Item Orders
If you order more than one item, your order may be sent in separate parcels. Items may arrive on different days, especially where they have different handling times or require different courier services.
11. Cancellations
You may cancel your order within 14 days of receiving your item. You do not need to give a reason.
After telling us you wish to cancel, you then have a further 14 days to return the item to us.
To cancel an order, please contact us using the contact form on our website and include your order number.
If the order has already been dispatched, you may need to return the item before a refund is issued.
12. Returns and Refunds
Returned items should be unused, undamaged and in the same condition as received.
For change of mind returns, customers are responsible for return postage costs unless the item received was damaged, defective or incorrect.
Once we receive the returned item, we will inspect it and process the refund to the original payment method as soon as possible.
We reserve the right to reduce the refund amount if an item has been used, damaged, handled excessively, or returned in a condition that reduces its value.
Please see our Shipping & Returns page for full return instructions.
13. Damaged, Defective or Incorrect Items
If your item arrives damaged, defective or incorrect, please contact us as soon as possible with your order number and details of the issue.
We may ask for clear photos of the damage, defect or incorrect item so we can resolve the issue quickly.
Where an item is confirmed to be damaged, defective or incorrect, we will offer a suitable resolution, such as a replacement, refund or return instructions.
14. Late or Delayed Delivery
We aim to dispatch and deliver orders within the estimated timeframes shown. However, delivery estimates are not guaranteed unless clearly stated.
We do not normally offer financial compensation for late delivery, inconvenience, loss of time or external costs caused by courier delays. This does not affect your statutory rights.
If your order has not arrived after the expected delivery period, please contact us and we will investigate.
15. Free Gifts and Promotional Items
From time to time, we may include free gifts or promotional items with orders, such as bookmarks.
Free gifts have no cash value and are not refundable.
If a full order is returned, we may ask for any free gift included with the order to be returned as well.
16. Discount Codes and Promotions
Discount codes and promotions may be subject to additional terms, expiry dates, minimum order values or product exclusions.
We reserve the right to amend or withdraw promotions at any time.
Only one discount code may be used per order unless stated otherwise.
17. Customer Accounts
You may be able to create an account on our website. You are responsible for keeping your login details secure.
You must notify us if you believe your account has been accessed without permission.
We may suspend or close accounts where we believe there has been misuse, fraud or breach of these terms.
18. Privacy and Personal Data
We process customer information in order to manage orders, payments, delivery, customer service and website operation.
Please read our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy for full details about how we collect, use and protect personal data.
19. Website Content
All website content, including text, images, branding, layout and design, belongs to Charlies Chapters or is used with permission, unless stated otherwise.
You may not copy, reproduce or use our website content for commercial purposes without permission.
20. Links to Other Websites
Our website may contain links to third-party websites. These links are provided for convenience only.
We are not responsible for the content, security, policies or practices of third-party websites.
21. Events Outside Our Control
We are not responsible for delays or failure to perform our obligations where this is caused by events outside our reasonable control.
This may include courier disruption, postal delays, strikes, severe weather, technical issues, supplier delays, payment provider issues, internet outages, government restrictions or other circumstances beyond our control.
22. Limitation of Liability
We do not exclude or limit liability where it would be unlawful to do so.
Subject to your statutory rights, Charlies Chapters will not be liable for indirect losses, loss of profit, loss of business, loss of opportunity, or external costs arising from the use of our website or delays in the order process.
Our total liability for any order will not normally exceed the amount paid for that order.
23. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time.
The version published on our website at the time you place your order will apply to that order.
24. Governing Law
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
Any disputes will be subject to the courts of England and Wales, unless consumer law gives you the right to bring proceedings elsewhere in the UK.
25. Contact Us
