Description
A traditional Christmas poem, first published in 1823, is presented here. The story takes place on Christmas Eve night and revolves around a father's encounter with St Nicholas as he delivers gifts to the family. As the father looks out of his house, he sees St Nicholas arriving in an air-borne sleigh pulled by eight reindeer. After landing on the roof, the saint enters the house through the chimney, carrying a sack of toys. The father watches as Nicholas fills the children's Christmas stockings hanging by the fire, and shares a moment with him before bounding up the chimney again. The poem concludes with St Nicholas wishing everyone a "Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night." This charming poem is a festive addition to any holiday collection.
