Description
David Wevill's translations bring together the works of five major poets from Europe and beyond. This collection presents his versions of Pessoa, Lacerda, Baudelaire, San Juan de la Cruz and Pindar, offering a unique insight into their original voices. Wevill's own poetry career spanned several decades, with four volumes published between 1964 and 1973. His work has now been gathered in two volumes of Collected Poems, which are published simultaneously with this book. This translation volume marks the first time his translations have been collected together in one place. For readers interested in exploring Wevill's unique approach to translation, this collection is a valuable addition to their literary studies.
