Description
The Sumerians by Leonard Woolley For centuries, Egypt was considered the cradle of civilization. However, renowned archaeologist Professor Woolley reveals that this assumption is no longer tenable. Through his extensive research, he demonstrates that the Sumerians had already flourished for at least 2,000 years when Egyptian civilization began. By 3500 B.C.E., the Sumerians had reached a remarkably high level of culture, laying the foundations for the civilizations of Egypt, Assyria, Asia Minor, Crete, and Greece. This groundbreaking work challenges our understanding of human history and will appeal to anyone interested in the early days of humanity.
