Description
The Just City is a planned community, created as an experiment by the time-traveling goddess Pallas Athene. Set on a Mediterranean island in the distant past, it brings together over ten thousand children and a few hundred adult teachers from all eras of history, along with some handy robots from the far human future. Among its inhabitants are Simmea, a brilliant child eager for knowledge, and Maia, a young Victorian lady who finds herself transported to the City after praying to Pallas Athene. The City is also home to Apollo, who has come to live among humans as one of the children, concealing his true identity from his peers. When Sokrates arrives in the City, he brings with him the troublesome questions that have made him famous throughout history. This thought-provoking tale explores what happens next, and how the inhabitants of the Just City navigate their lives and relationships amidst the challenges and opportunities presented by their unique community.
