Description
The Falls by Graeme CM Smith tells the story of those who fought and sacrificed during the Battle for France. In June 1940, Peter Smith found himself in the midst of a desperate battle for survival, fighting alongside French allies against the Germans. As he recounts his own experiences, including capture by Rommel's 7th Panzer Division, Smith sheds light on the often-overlooked stories of those who fought and lost during this pivotal moment in history. The evacuation of Dunkirk may be remembered as a victory, but Peter Smith's story reveals the sacrifices made by those who remained behind. From the early hours of June 3rd to his eventual rescue by Americans in April 1945, Smith's account is a testament to the bravery and resilience of those who fought for their country. Through his own experiences, Smith captures the drama and uncertainty of life as a POW, walking 1,600km along the Baltic coast from East Prussia. This powerful and personal story provides a unique perspective on one of World War II's most significant events.
