The Complete Poems of Anne Brontë is a collection of poetry written by the youngest of the well-known Brontë siblings, Anne Brontë. Born in 1820, Anne spent her childhood drawing and writing poetry, often in secret.
As a young woman, Anne's experiences of spiritual crisis and her work as a governess are reflected in many of her poems. In 1846, she collaborated with her sisters, Emily and Charlotte, on a collection of poetry, using a pen name to avoid unfair judgment as a woman writer. Although the collection sold poorly, Anne found a market for her own poetry, and was published in Fraser's Magazine.
This collection of poetry, cut short by Anne's early death in 1849, is often overshadowed by that of her sisters. Nevertheless, it remains a deeply insightful and thought-provoking work, offering a unique perspective on the life and experiences of a remarkable woman.
