Templarios. Soldados de Dios

The Order of the Temple is one of the most significant religious and military organizations of the Middle Ages. Born out of the historical phenomenon of the Crusades, with its primary goal initially to protect Christian pilgrims traveling to Jerusalem, the Knights Templar went on to shape nearly two centuries of captivating history. In Templarios. Soldados de Dios, Croatian illustrator and researcher Zvonimir Grbašić presents a new history of the Order of the Temple, focusing on its military aspect but also exploring all facets of its organization, functioning, and mentality. The book delves into the period leading up to the First Crusade and the oath sworn by Hugo de Payns and his eight companions in 1119, as well as the tragic dissolution of the order and the dramatic execution of Jacques de Molay, the last Grand Master. The book features numerous and magnificent illustrations created by Grbašić himself, providing documented detail and precise colors that evoke the life and deeds of these 'Soldiers of God'. The publication is enriched with images from the period and maps, adding an impressive graphic apparatus to Templarios.
