Description

Yvonne Rainer's Revisions brings together her latest dance rant, A Truncated History of the Universe for Dummies, along with texts offering a real-time account of her creative process. This collection showcases Rainer's interest in embodied activism and her exploration of movement as a political act. The book includes Rainer's final iteration of this performance piece, which evolved from live presentations in Dublin, Stockholm, and New York. It also features emails and diary entries that provide insight into her working methods and the reworking of material across multiple mediums. The volume is accompanied by an introduction and analysis, offering a nuanced understanding of Rainer's production over five decades. Revisions serves as both a revision of conventional understanding and a timely manual for performance as resistance.
