Description

ReVisión: A New Look at Art in the Americas explores what makes the Americas distinct. This publication brings together essays by leading scholars to examine how the past continues to shape communities across the region. Artists such as Alexander Apóstol, Juan Enrique Bedoya, Johanna Calle, Ronny Quevedo, Sandy Rodríguez, Eduardo Sarabia, Clarissa Tossin, and Cecilia Vicuña draw on centuries-old imagery to address questions of identity, natural resource exploitation, and displacement. The essays in this catalog provide a framework for understanding the region's complex history of creation, destruction, and renewal. By examining the ways in which past and present intersect, ReVisión offers a nuanced perspective on the Americas' rich cultural heritage.
