Hope is a powerful force. For Alice, running is her happy place - it's in her DNA. But despite being the best runner at school, she struggles to prove herself. Meanwhile, Jade begins to see that prejudices can be found everywhere, even in unexpected places. She knows her education isn't equipped to understand her own history and heritage, and is taunted by bullies at school. As a result, she decides it's time to tell her own story. In another part of the town, litter is piling up in the local forest, and an environmental crisis looms on a global scale. Chloe wants to make a change, starting with her community. Three girls are preparing to stand up for what they believe in, despite the obstacles in their way. This new play explores the power of friendship and the importance of believing in your own voice. Co-commissioned by Fuel, Imaginate and Northern Stage, Protest is part of Methuen Drama's Plays for Young People series.
