Description

The Free9 by In-Sook Chappell is a gripping drama about nine teenagers who flee North Korea in search of a new life in the South. As they navigate their perilous journey, they face numerous threats and are forced to confront the mysterious figure of Big Brother. Their lives hang precariously in the balance as they try to stay one step ahead of danger. But can this enigmatic figure truly help them escape their fate? Or is he a constant reminder of the very person they're trying to outrun? This powerful story, inspired by a true account, explores themes of hope, escape, and cultural difference. Originally commissioned as a play for the National Theatre Connections Festival 2018, it has been adapted into this single-text edition for young people to study and perform.
