Description
The tumultuous events of 1917 sent ripples around the world, and one notable way they were expressed was through artfully created postcards. This collection presents a unique visual narrative of the Russian Revolution, featuring cards from Russia, Germany, the United States, Belgium, and France. The postcards offer a diverse range of artistic styles and perspectives on the Bolshevik Revolution, showcasing bloody street scenes, portraits of lesser-known leaders, satirical sketches of rulers, and depictions of pivotal events leading up to the Revolution. They also include images of palaces, institutional buildings, and celebrations following the Revolution, such as the great famine of 1921 and public celebrations of the newly formed Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. This fascinating visual exploration reveals a new perspective on one of the most important political movements of the twentieth century, shedding light on the Russian Empire in its death throes.
