This seminal work is based on extensive research and offers valuable insights into the customs, institutions, geography, causes of events, and character of peoples during that period. Polybius' narrative covers the destruction of Carthage and Rome's eventual domination of the Greek world, providing a nuanced understanding of the historical context. The book's accuracy, thoughtfulness, and impartiality have made it a vital achievement in the field of ancient history. This edition features W. R.
