Description

Rudolf A. Makkreel's Orientation and Judgment in Hermeneutics offers a fresh approach to understanding the challenges of hermeneutics in an increasingly complex world.

Makkreel proposes a new framework for interpretation, focusing on the role of judgment in orienting us towards different meaning contexts. By exploring the diagnostic use of reflective judgment, he aims to establish priorities among various contextual conditions that shape our understanding and interpretation of history and culture.

The book also examines how these orientations can be reconfigured in response to changes brought about by digital technology, with a particular focus on the contemporary art scene. Makkreel's work provides a promising way of thinking about the shifting contexts that underpin our interpretations of texts, artworks, and the world around us.
