Twelve years in prison for crimes I did not commit, I was finally exonerated in 2000. My experience has left me scarred, but I have not let it hold me back. I have turned my life into a career, using my time in prison to learn about criminal behaviour, crime and the law. This is my story, and I am proud to share it with you. I have spent years reporting on prisons and crime, visiting some of the world's most notorious facilities. My work has changed people's perceptions of justice and punishment, and I believe it is crucial to show an insight into how prisons work. I have met with prisoners, guards, families and politicians, and talked to them about crime and punishment. It is not always easy, but I believe it is necessary to bring about real reform. I may not have had the traditional academic background, but I have not let that hold me back. I have become a respected and unwavering reporter, and I continue to go into prisons around the world to share my story and bring attention to the issues that need to be addressed.
