Description
Hermann Nitsch: Spaces of Color explores the artist's development of painterly works from the early 1960s to the present day. Focusing on his investigation of paint, the authors examine various work cycles, including splatter paintings and floor splatters. Through 150 color images, this book illustrates Nitsch's exploration of the state of paint itself, which constantly varies between liquid and solid. Nitsch's works reveal an explosion of colors, from monochrome to vibrant hues. The authors investigate how Nitsch uses paint, including techniques such as applying it with a brush or smearing it with his hands. By tracing Nitsch's investigation of paint from one work to the next, this book provides insight into the artist's unique approach. Published in 2019, Hermann Nitsch: Spaces of Color marks the artist's eightieth birthday and offers a fascinating exploration of an outstanding experimental artist.
