One month after a global disaster, the most developed nations have fallen to zombie masses. Only pockets of humanity remain, often in areas with high-powered weaponry. In New York City, the dead roam the streets, driven by an insatiable hunger for all living things. Among them is Gary Fleck, a zombie who retains his human intelligence. He witnesses the end of the world and may hold the key to understanding its cause. On Monster Island, a small group of heavily armed schoolgirls-turned-soldiers arrives in search of desperately needed medicine. Led by Dekalb, a former United Nations weapons inspector, they are determined to complete their mission. However, on this island, survival comes with a terrible price. Gary's story becomes intertwined with the girls' quest, revealing that there is something worse than being undead.
