Description

Roni Horn's Island Zombie is a poignant and evocative chronicle of her lifelong connection with Iceland's natural environment. First visiting the island in 1975, at just nineteen years old, Horn has been drawn to its treeless expanse ever since.

Through a series of reflective pieces, vignettes, and illustrated essays, Horn distills her experiences of Iceland's elemental places, exploring the enduring power of remote landscapes on the human psyche. With vivid portrayals of weather and natural phenomena, she conveys her abiding need for this unique environment, which has been essential to her creative and spiritual life.

Island Zombie is a meditation on presence, examining themes of self-sufficiency, isolation, and the impact of human activity on the natural world. This thought-provoking work offers an unforgettable exploration of the force of remote places on our innermost selves.
