Description
Lucian Freud's Copper Paintings brings together for the first time all of the artist's oil on copper paintings, including his lost portrait of Francis Bacon and two works that have never been reproduced before. These small-scale, enamel-smooth paintings are astonishingly intense and showcase Freud's unique technique. The book is based on a decade of research and includes two previously unpublished works, as well as a rare photograph of the stolen portrait just minutes before its theft in 1988. This publication offers a unique insight into Freud's artistic process and provides a fascinating glimpse into his innovative use of copper as a medium.
