Description
William Feaver's biography of Lucian Freud is an exceptional and sparkling account of the artist's life. Spanning from his early childhood to the 1960s, this book offers a unique glimpse into the life of one of Britain's most celebrated artists. Feaver's narrative weaves together Freud's experiences in art school, his time in the Navy during World War II, and his post-war adventures in Paris and Greece. Along the way, he reveals a brilliant but difficult young man who was drawn to both high society and the seedy underbelly of London's nightlife. Through Freud's own words, as recorded by his close confidante William Feaver, this biography provides an electrifying portrait of a complex and fascinating individual.
