The journey took them across the Atlantic, through the Caribbean, and into the Pacific, before tragedy struck in June 1972 when the ship was attacked by killer whales and sank. The survivors spent the next 38 days adrift in a rubber life raft, followed by a harrowing stint in a cramped 9-foot fibreglass dinghy. Eventually, they were rescued by a passing Japanese fishing vessel. This book tells the story of their ordeal, as well as the entire 18-month voyage of the Lucette.
