Description

A farcical and heartwarming tale of love and companionship, Ladies of the Rachmaninoff Eyes follows the misadventures of a queer Black teenager sharing a house with two adoptive mothers, a cook, and a reticent ghost. In a small Michigan town in the late 1950s, a complex relationship has developed between the widow Etta and her Black housekeeper Harriet, who has become like a daughter to her. As Etta's nephew Oliver prepares to leave for college, the household is disrupted by the arrival of a self-proclaimed "warlock" who claims to be able to contact the late son who has been a source of comfort to Etta. This witty and outrageous novel explores the absurdities and codependencies of their relationships, offering a unique and humorous look at the lives of those around them.
