This was a pivotal time in the protohistory of the Iberian Peninsula, marked by the influx of Mediterranean cultures, including the Phoenicians and Greeks, who brought about significant changes. The Iberos are crucial to understanding our history, yet numerous limitations hinder our comprehension of this enigmatic people. One major obstacle is the lack of written records; their language remains undeciphered, making it difficult to interpret their texts. Additionally, the purpose behind many of their monuments and structures, such as the walls that were not built for warfare but rather to symbolize power, remain shrouded in mystery. This book presents a comprehensive overview of the current state of research on the Iberos, drawing upon recent bibliographical sources. It also undertakes an ambitious attempt at reconstruction, recognizing that the Iberos were not alone in their time and place; they shared their world with other cultures, whose presence must be taken into account when studying them.
