Description
Lee Diana Habash's diplomat husband has died, leaving her with more than just wealth. In Goa, she meets Rod, a retired London villain, and embarks on a tumultuous love affair. As social unrest simmers beneath the surface, Lee becomes embroiled in local politics when she supports her landlord's daughter in a bid to become Carnival Queen. The Hindu festival of Shivaratri is about to take a dramatic turn, while protests against the Konkan railway and the liberalisation of Goa's carnival threaten to boil over. Against Rod's wishes, Lee finds herself at the centre of a maelstrom that will have explosive consequences. As tensions escalate, Lee must navigate the treacherous landscape of her new life in Goa, where old rivalries and new passions collide.
