Description

The story of Jesus Christ's life is rooted in a series of ancient myths that predate his birth. The earliest of these myths tells the story of the Green Man, a figure born to a virgin and a father in the heavens in December, who is later resurrected in the spring. This myth has evolved over time, influencing the development of various divine son myths in Near Eastern and Far Eastern cultures, including the Hindu Murugan, the Mesopotamian Tammuz, the Egyptian Osiris, and the Greek Dionysus. As these myths spread, they merged with the Persian Christ Myth of the Divine Son of God, Mithras. This myth was later adopted by Magi Priests in Tarsus of Cilicia, who brought it to the city and passed it on to St. Paul. When Paul traveled to Palestine with the Roman Legions, he recognized the Jewish Messiah as Mithras, who was prophesied to incarnate at the same time as Jesus. Paul later combined many of the key events of Mithras' life with those of Jesus, creating the authorized Christ Myth that was eventually adopted by the Christian Church. This book explores the origins and evolution of the Christ Myth, tracing its development from the ancient myths of the Green Man to the Christian narrative of Jesus' life.
