The Sala Beckett: A Building of Truth The ruins of the former workers' cooperative 'Pau i Justícia, left abandoned for over twenty years, were transformed into a new cultural hub through a remarkable design decision. The building's history, from its active years in the twentieth century to its abandonment, was preserved and incorporated into the new Sala Beckett / Internacional Drama Center. This project, undertaken by Flores & Prats, not only restored a physical heritage but also recovered a social one. The final result is a building that contains the era of the cooperative, the era of abandonment, and the era of the new Sala Beckett. The Sala Beckett's story is one of redemption and the value of preserving our collective memory. By examining the Sala Beckett, we gain insight into the power of design decisions and the importance of preserving our cultural heritage. This book presents a unique perspective on the transformation of a building and its significance in the context of Catalan theater and social history.
