Description

Edward Prior: Arts and Crafts Architect sheds new light on the life and work of Edward Schroder Prior, a key figure in the development of the Arts and Crafts Movement. This comprehensive monograph explores Prior's architecture, scholarship, and artistic theories, revealing his significant contributions to the movement. Extensively illustrated with color reproductions of Prior's architectural drawings and photographs of his extant buildings, this book provides a detailed insight into his work. Prior is recognized as the missing link between the theoretical and practical aspects of the Arts and Crafts Movement, having successfully translated the artistic ideas of Ruskin and Morris into architectural reality. Prior's legacy extends beyond his own work, as he went on to found the School of Architecture at the University of Cambridge in 1912. This book offers a fresh perspective on Prior's place within architectural history, making it an essential resource for anyone interested in the Arts and Crafts Movement.
