Description

Edward Cullinan Architects is the first complete account of the practice led by architect Edward (Ted) Cullinan for over 50 years. Cullinan set up his cooperative in 1965, driven by a desire to bring commitment from the whole team to architecture. His innovative approach was shaped by a year at Berkeley in 1956 and his work with Denys Lasdun. Cullinan's practice grew through major local authority housing projects, public buildings, university buildings, and master plans in the UK and abroad. He integrated low-energy design into his work, drawing by hand to create detailed drawings of his designs. With a focus on environmental sustainability, Cullinan's approach evolved over time, influenced by collaboration with architects and engineers. This book features classic and new photographs, as well as a selection of Cullinan's drawings, providing a unique insight into the practice that Ted led for so long.
