Description

The 155th (Lanarkshire Yeomanry) Field Regiment, RA: A Forgotten Story of War and Sacrifice. During World War II, this little-known artillery regiment saw intense action in the ill-fated Malayan Campaign. Despite being vastly outnumbered, they fought a brave rearguard action all the way down the Malayan Peninsular and onto the fortress of Singapore. The Regiment's motto, Ubigue - 'everywhere' - reflected their ability to adapt and persevere. The Gunners suffered greatly in the years that followed, with many dying as prisoners of war on the infamous Burma Railway, in copper mines of Formosa, and in camps throughout the Far East. A full nominal roll is included, allowing readers to identify the camp where each individual Gunner was held. The book also provides a Roll of Honor, detailing the date, place, cause of death, and place of burial or commemoration for the Regiment's casualties. This book tells the story of the 155th (Lanarkshire Yeomanry) Field Regiment, RA, and their experiences during World War II.
