Description
The British Crusader and Italian M13/40 tanks played crucial roles in World War II's Desert War. This illustrated study assesses their combat effectiveness during 1941-42, focusing on the evolution of these two medium tanks as the Desert War raged on. The M13/40 was armed with a 47mm main gun, capable of firing armour-piercing rounds and high-explosive ammunition against infantry and towed-gun targets. In contrast, the Crusader I had a 2-pdr (40mm) main gun, which could only fire armour-piercing ammunition. The study explores how these tanks fared in combat, including their introduction into service, upgrades, and eventual replacement by newer models. Featuring all-new full-colour artwork, archive photographs, and expert analysis, this engaging study provides a detailed assessment of the origins, development, and combat effectiveness of the Crusader I and M13/40 during 1941-42.
