Description
Covert Operations: Investigating the Known Unknowns brings together 13 international artists who have collected and revealed unreported information on subjects ranging from classified military sites to border surveillance, terrorist profiling, and nuclear weapons.
The resulting photoessays and documents provide a unique perspective on the intersection of freedom, security, secrecy, power, and violence in contemporary society. Among the contributing artists are notable figures such as Ahmed Basiony, Thomas Demand, Harun Farocki, Jenny Holzer, Trevor Paglen, and Taryn Simon.
Published in 2014, this book offers a thought-provoking exploration of the complexities surrounding secrecy and power in modern times. With its diverse range of artists and subjects, Covert Operations: Investigating the Known Unknowns is an insightful look at the ways in which art can shed light on the unknown.
