A New Approach to Drilling Fluids Engineering in HPHT Environments by Aleruchi Boniface Oriji is a comprehensive study on drilling fluids engineering in high-pressure, high-temperature (HPHT) environments. The oil and gas industry faces significant challenges when drilling wells with extreme temperatures and pressures, exceeding 300°F and 10,000 psi respectively. Conventional designs and test equipment have proven inadequate in addressing these issues. This book presents a new approach to drilling fluids engineering developed through experimental procedures, simulation studies, field application, and computer modeling. The author's work has led to the development of a software called HPHT Rheo-Analyzer, which uses actual field data to provide a qualitative and quantitative guide for drilling fluids engineering in HPHT wells. The results show that rheological properties are dependent on temperature, pressure, and their interaction effect. A multiple regression analysis from the software demonstrates good agreement with experimental and field values, making this approach a valuable tool for practical drilling experience and well planning in HPHT wells.
