Description
Zahra's Blessing: A Ramadan Story by Shirin Shamsi is a heartwarming tale about sharing and caring, deeply rooted in Islamic traditions. During Ramadan, Zahra prays for a sister, but learns that blessings can be found in unexpected ways. As she volunteers with her mother at a local shelter for asylum seekers, Zahra forms a special bond with a displaced child. Her prayers are answered in a way she never expected, teaching her the value of giving without expecting anything in return. This book provides a kid-friendly introduction to the idea of displacement and asylum seekers, while also explaining the importance of Ramadan and its traditions. The endnotes offer additional information on these topics, making it an ideal companion for families celebrating Ramadan.
