Description
The Professor's Dilemma Professor Dr Moritz-Maria von Igelfeld and his colleagues at the University of Regensburg's Institute of Romance Philology are committed to upholding traditional academic standards. When a new deputy librarian, Dr Hilda Schreiber-Ziegler, challenges their approach, they must take action to protect their reputation. This leads to a surprising decision: running for director of the Institute. To strengthen his bid, von Igelfeld is offered a visiting fellowship at Oxford, where he will need to navigate the complexities of academic politics and cultivate relationships with colleagues from different backgrounds. As he navigates this new environment, von Igelfeld must confront the challenges of adapting to change in academia. This novel explores the tensions between tradition and progress in the world of academia, as von Igelfeld struggles to balance his commitment to scholarship with the demands of modern politics.
