Description
Edel Rodriguez's graphic memoir tells the story of his journey from Cuba to America, and the struggles that came with it. In 1980, he joined thousands of others fleeing the island in the Mariel boatlift, becoming one of the 'worms' Castro called the departing Cubans.
Through stunning visual detail, Rodriguez recounts his childhood in Cold War Cuba, his family's courage and displacement, and his coming of age as an artist, activist, and American. The result is a powerful and personal account of one man's experience, both beautiful and shocking.
