Description

Wisbech's Forgotten Hero is the remarkable story of an individual who defied expectations to achieve great things despite limited formal education. As a missionary, writer, photographer, naturalist, and linguist, he made significant contributions to his field.

Through his own efforts, he published several books on Polynesia and Madagascar, using photography and his own drawings to illustrate them. He also taught himself printing and bookbinding, allowing him to translate scriptures and religious texts into the local language for the benefit of the community.

The latter part of his life was spent in comfort at his English country home, surrounded by the plants he had collected during his travels. This fascinating biography sheds light on a remarkable individual who left a lasting impact through his work and achievements.
