Description

Swallow Press first published Winter of Artifice in 1945, presenting a unique and innovative work that would become characteristic of Anaïs Nin's writing style. This reissue features a new introduction by Laura Frost and the original engravings by Ian Hugo.

The book explores themes of identity, psychology, and human relationships through its unconventional structure and surrealistic prose. A central story delves into a woman's complex relationship with her father, while other tales examine the fragility of modern life and the search for meaning.

This reissue offers an opportunity to reassess Nin's work, which laid the groundwork for later writers and continues to engage readers with its formal experimentation, thematic daring, and psychological intrigue.
