Description
William Reid Dick: Sculptor is a long-overdue monograph that sheds new light on one of Britain's most overlooked sculptors. This in-depth study explores the life and work of William Reid Dick, tracing his journey from birth to knighthood, and delves into the reasons behind his rapid decline in reputation.
Drawing on previously unpublished material, including over 2000 letters and press cuttings, this book provides a rich portrait of Reid Dick's story. It also features images of over 40 of his works and a detailed listing of over 200 identified pieces.
By elucidating the historical, social, and aesthetic context in which Reid Dick worked, Dennis Wardleworth restores his position in the history of British art. This is the first monograph on Reid Dick since 1945, making it an essential resource for anyone interested in British sculpture and the artists who shaped its development.
