Description
William Morris's most personal and provocative work, News from Nowhere is a scathing critique of modern civilization. Born in 1834, Morris was a poet, writer, textile designer, artist and libertarian who began publishing his work in the 1850s. Morris's writing career was marked by periods of disillusionment and rebirth, as he explored themes of medieval wanderers searching for a lost land. His fascination with ancient Germanic and Norse peoples dominated his writing until his Socialist period, which led him to found the Kelmscott Press and create beautiful, illuminated style books. Published in 2015, News from Nowhere is a rare opportunity to read Morris's unflinching thoughts on modern society, written over 125 years ago.
