Description

William Carey: Expecting Great Things by Linda Finlayson is a gripping story about a shoe-maker who became one of the key individuals in the formation of The Baptist Missionary Society. Born into a working-class background, William's life took an unexpected turn when God had other plans for him. From a young age, William was curious and intelligent, teaching himself Latin and Greek despite not attending university. He went on to become a husband, father, schoolmaster, preacher, pastor, and missionary, using his linguistic talents to translate the Bible into another language. This inspiring biography challenges readers to expect great things from God and attempt great things for him. The Trailblazer series collects remarkable stories from Christians of the past, making this book an engaging read for young people aged 9-14. With Thinking Further topics and a timeline of important events, this biography provides valuable lessons that apply to life today.
