Description

Wideawake Field Poems by Eliza Griswold is a powerful and moving collection of poems that explore the complexities of home and displacement. The poems in this debut work navigate the tensions between internal and external worlds, capturing the disappointment of returning to familiar places after time away, and the guilt and thrill of departure. With ruthless observations etched in sparse lines, Griswold sharply navigates the poles of home and away. Through her writing, Griswold conveys a sense of desolation and loneliness, yet also finds moments of unexpected connection in blighted places. This is a thought-provoking and deeply moving collection that will resonate with readers who appreciate honest and unflinching poetry.
