Description
Western Historical Thinking An Intercultural Debate explores the nature of history as an academic discipline. Jörn Rüsen examines ten hypotheses that attempt to define specifically "Western Historical Thinking" and invites scholars from Asia and Africa to comment on his position in light of their own ideas.
The volume also includes Peter Burke's responses to the questions and issues raised by the authors, as well as his suggestions for a common ground for intercultural communication. This collection provides a unique opportunity for readers to engage with diverse perspectives on historical thinking.
