Description

The village school is set to welcome its new head, Kate Pascoe. At first glance, she appears ideal - young, pretty and clearly enthusiastic about her job. However, when meditation classes for ten-year-olds and tree-hugging are introduced, the villagers begin to question her suitability. A sense of unease settles over Turnham Malpas as a series of strange occurrences take place. Lights are seen in Sykes Wood at night, a dog thought dead reappears, and a sudden death sends shockwaves through the community. Kate Pascoe is always at the centre of the mystery, and it's up to the Rector, Peter Harris, to uncover the truth behind these events. As May Day approaches, with its traditional celebrations, the village is gripped by superstition and fear. The arrival of a new headteacher has brought both excitement and unease, and it remains to be seen whether Kate Pascoe can restore calm to Turnham Malpas.
