Description
John Berger's Un hombre afortunado is a deeply personal and thought-provoking exploration of the human experience. This 2008 work, first published in Spanish, offers a unique blend of narrative, reflection, and photography that sheds light on the complexities of life and medicine.
The book is based on Berger's collaboration with photographer Jean Mohr, who accompanied a British doctor, John Sassall, to his rural practice. Through Sassall's stories and Berger's own musings, we gain insight into the intricacies of human relationships and the nature of medical work.
With its hypnotic prose and striking photographs, Un hombre afortunado is a book that rewards close reading and reflection. It is a meditation on the value we assign to human life and the true face of medicine, one that remains relevant today.
