Description
Un Amor A Novel by Sara Mesa is a thought-provoking exploration of language and power set in a rural Spanish village. When Nat arrives in La Escapa, she settles into a small house with cheap rent to work on her first literary translation, accompanied only by a skittish dog. As she navigates the local inhabitants, Nat's assumptions about country life are repeatedly challenged, leading to mutual misunderstandings and a growing sense of alienation. As tensions mount, Nat is faced with difficult choices that test her morality and force her to confront the limits of her own understanding. The village's atmosphere is oppressive, mirroring the taut prose that drives home the complexities of human relationships and community dynamics. Through Nat's story, Sara Mesa extends her exploration of language and power, inviting readers to consider their own moral compass as the narrative unfolds.
