Description

Leon Trotsky: A New Biography. This biography provides a comprehensive account of Leon Trotsky's life and thought, drawing on a wealth of primary sources, including previously unpublished material. Ian D. Thatcher sheds new light on Trotsky's standing in history, challenging prevailing myths about his role in Russia's early revolutions and the Russian Civil War. Thatcher's study offers a clear introduction to Trotsky's life and ideas for anyone interested in 20th-century Russian and world history. The author examines Trotsky's critical views on Stalin's version of communism, highlighting his importance as a thinker and politician despite his limited understanding of certain contemporary events. By exploring Trotsky's complex legacy, this biography provides a nuanced understanding of one of the most divisive figures of the 20th century.
