Description

Trees for the Absentees is a poignant coming-of-age story about young love and heart-to-heart connections. Philistia's life is marked by uncertainty, as she waits for her father's release from prison and works in the ancient Ottoman hammam.

As she navigates this complex world, Philistia finds solace in memories of her late Grandma Zahia, who taught her about life, death, and the secrets of the past. In the midst of occupation and loss, Philistia embarks on a magical journey through her country's history.

This beautifully translated novel explores themes of love, loss, and resilience, as Philistia searches for a place to plant memories of those she has lost. A powerful and moving tale of young love and self-discovery.
