Description

Blazefield Buses: A Story of Growth and Expansion In 1991, Blazefield commenced operations after buying the final shares in the former AJS Holdings group. From its inception, it was clear that the company had a strong approach to passengers and growth. With over 300 vehicles, most of its operations were based in Yorkshire, while it also maintained a base in London for its Sovereign unit and smaller operations around Cambridge. The Volvo chassis range and Wrightbus bodywork formed the standard for Blazefield's fleet. Route branding and simple livery proved to be an effective combination for increasing passengers and encouraging vehicle renewal. The company's growth was further boosted by the acquisition of former Stagecoach operations in East Lancashire in 2006. This marked a significant milestone for Transdev, which would eventually acquire Blazefield. Today, Transdev continues to build on its strong brand identity, with expansion into local identities and colourful brands. This book provides an insight into the history and development of Blazefield Buses, from its early days to its current status as a leading bus operator in modern times.
